The Watchman
So the high walls you built are coming down
And the last hill saw you break your crown
Is there anyone at all around
To put you on your feet?
Yeah I know the cost of love is steep
But it's a long way down
When deep is crying out to deep
It's a long way down
It's a long dark empty way down
There's an empty shell at the funeral
You were holding something beautiful
You were holding up but soon you will
Let it fall apart
Yeah I know the cost of love is steep
But it's a long way down
When deep is crying out to deep
It's a long way down
It's a long dark empty way down
Don't let the watchman keep them from your door
Don't let him keep you off the floor
When you're washed up broken on the shore
He's no good to you.
Yeah I know the cost of love is steep
But it's a long way down
When deep is crying out to deep
It's a long way down
It's a long dark empty way down

I thought this was beautiful (if that's the righ word). I'll have to explain why on some other medium.

This is meaningful, and I think I know what it is about. I wish it weren't way to late to call you.
Sleep well, Chris.

This one was inspired by two separate events; one was a comment by a friend about this blog, actually; the other was a recent death in our community at SVA. And they both seemed to juxtapose one another very sadly. top

Oh,
Well I was completely wrong.
I feel like there are a lot of deaths going on at Calvary right now. As it is an older Church it shouldn't be much of a surprise, but it just makes you realise how short life is. Yet, I don't think living life with death on the edge of your mind is quite healthy. Just sometimes time moves so fast I can't help but look at all of the people gathering in memoriam and wondering when it will be me.
And that was depressing. On a lighter note, in a week we will be on a plane going to Orlando! Yahooo!

Um...if I ask really nicely would you consider helping me with the vocals on a new song I wrote?...let me know if you can find it in your heart to help a lowly budding songwriter...
